About Southern Focus Trust
Southern Focus Trust is an independent local charity and company limited by guarantee working in the Hampshire and West Sussex region. During each year, we support and advise over 10,000 people. The Trust has approximately 400 supported housing bed spaces spread over 70 properties offering all kinds of accommodation for vulnerable people and those most in need. The Trust employs over 400 staff, works closely with other agencies and enjoys the support of many volunteers.
History
In 1985 Southern Focus Trust, known then as Portsmouth Housing Trust, was founded by Portsmouth Housing Association (PHA) to provide services to people who were not its tenants.
In 1991 the Trust was given the operation of the Care and Repair service from another PHA subsidiary company, and the All Saints Direct Access Hostel was built by PHA.
In 1993 all care and support services provided by PHA were transferred to Portsmouth Housing Trust and the organisation was re-launched as a major provider in Portsmouth.
In 1997 Havant Housing Association left the PHA Group and a number of HHA services for Young People were transferred to the management of the Trust.
Fareham Housing Association decided to de-merge from the PHA Group too, and services for Young People were transferred to Southern Focus Trust, including East Street and Western Road in Fareham and Blake's in Gosport.
In 2004 the Trust re-branded itself developing a new strap-line and logo and renaming and refurbishing its headquarters as 'Focus Point'.
