Services
Counselling gives people a safe place to talk about their problems and express their feelings with a trained professional counsellor. Short and long term counselling is available.

Portsmouth Counselling Service (PCS) is recognised and widely respected as a service of excellence for its counselling work with clients. All weekly counselling that takes place at PCS is undertaken by highly trained volunteer counsellors who attend regular supervision and in-house training to ensure the professional development of the team. Clients' suitability for counselling is assessed by a small team of specially trained assessment counsellors.

Please contact us on the above number if you would like to receive counselling, and you will be offered an initial assessment session. This is not a free service, but fees payable are related to your financial situation.

As part of a Big Lottery funded project PCS can offer six free counselling sessions to anyone from a black or minority ethnic group, including asylum seekers and refugees. Interpreters are available if required. We also offer free training to anyone that is fluent in English as a second language to enable them to work as an interpreter within a counselling session, and can offer them paid work and support once trained.

Please view the attached leaflet about this cross cultural counselling project. If you require copies of this please contact Sheridan Edwards, Project Manager, Portsmouth Counselling Service.

Please contact us if you would like further information about the services we offer, including the cross cultural counselling project.
