Current Activities
The Rehabilitation and Recovery Service aims to support you in overcoming the impact mental distress can have on your hopes, your dreams and your aspirations. We aim to help you to get where you would like to be in life, be it helping you to maintain wellness, increase your independence or have an improved quality of life. We aim to act as equal partners in your recovery and do this by working with you to draw up a plan based on what you would like to achieve. This might include wanting to return to college, to go to work, to take back control, or to simply feel better. The steps we take to help might include the following:
- Offering specific interventions, such as skills building, relapse prevention and voice hearers groups
- Using problem solving and goal setting approaches
- Promoting the idea of citizenship and being a part of the community
- Offering easy, prompt access to ourselves and other services
- Using interventions aimed at enhancing quality of life and improving activities of daily living skills
You may need practical support to achieve your goals so, we have a team of people available for this purpose. We also offer a range of group based opportunites such as a group for young people called 'Feet First', a Voices Hearers Support and Education Group as well as groups aimed at bringing people who are isolated together.
Our values are as follows:
- We advocate the use of partnerships and shared responsibilities between users and the service
- We focus on strengths and not problems, aiming to foster a sense of hope
- We will be respectful and encouraging and place users at the centre of services
- We believe people should be in control of their own recovery process
- We will listen and aim to support people in finding their own understanding of the meaning of their experiences
If you haven't already been referred, ask your care co-ordinator or Consultant to contact us on your behalf.
If you have been referred, we will contact you and arrange a time to meet. We will ask you about how life is now and what you would like to change. We will support you in making those changes.
Future Plans
The Rehabilitation team would like to provide a therapeutic environment and continue to help service users in the recovery process.
