SERVICE USERS - Portsmouth Patient Forum
Portsmouth Service User Involvement began the Portsmouth Patient Forum in 2005 at St James Hospital, giving residential service users an opportunity to feedback their hospital experiences confidentially. The Forum has enabled service user views and opinions about their own care to be fed back to management in a bid to improve the service as a whole.
To begin with the Forum ran once a month and was open to all service users receiving residential care at the hospital however this meant that those service users who could not leave their respective units were sometimes unable to participate. Since June 2009 Portsmouth Service User Involvement has increased the Forums to once a month on each of the four units, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to have their say.
The meetings take place on the following units, and staff are not present.
- Fairoak: First Monday of each month at 6:30pm
- Hawthorn: Second Monday of each month at 6:30pm
- Oakdene: Third Monday of each month at 6:30pm
- Mapel: Third Thursday of each month at 3:00pm
There is no agenda at these meetings, their sole purpose is to find out directly from residential service users how they feel about their care whilst staying in hospital.
The sessions are open to all service users, they are run by service users for service users. Any issues, big or small we would value your contribution!
