ADULT MENTAL HEALTH - CARER SUPPORT AND ADVICE SERVICE
The service provides support, advice and information for any carer or ex-carer living in the city of Portsmouth. They are able to provide access to advocacy, specialist welfare benefits advice, referrals to other agencies, emotional support, and support to deal with statutory agencies and access to local carers' groups.
We also provide a support service for young carers: including those who care for someone with a mental health illness or alcohol or drug abuse related issues. The support offered includes one to one and group work.
There are a number of carers support groups, which run at various times and at different locations throughout Portsmouth, which we can support carers to access. We can also support with carers assessments, and administer a carers’ self assessment from the centre, which provides carers with breaks and signposting onto other support agencies, where appropriate.
Below is some info lifted from our website www.portsmouthcarers.org
The Carers Centre is a community resource dedicated to the support of all carers in the city of Portsmouth.
We are a one stop shop for carers in the city of Portsmouth, offering a variety of support, including financial, training, young carers, adult mental health, emotional support, and also a carers supported self assessment.
We also have a wealth of information within the building, including leaflets, and members of staff who have a wide knowledge of services in the local area. We are open from 9 – 5 Monday to Thursday and 9 – 4:30 on Friday and anyone can drop in to the centre during these hours.
